A conduit to convey information on Chapel Street Open Studios and Chapel Street area.
The Hub would act as a starting point to introduce visitors to the range of events and locations available to visitors during the open studio period. Here information gathered at the Hub will be converted to artifacts. There is also potential to utilize the wall adjacent to From Space This surface could be filled with material collected at the Hub.
The Chapel Street area of Salford will be hosting a fortnight of events in November as artists’ studios open their doors to exhibit and sell their work.
Chapel Street Open Studios is the latest in a series of events, which is establishing the area as a hot bed of creative talent.
Venues taking part include Islington Mill, Manchester Artists’ Studio Association (MASA) and the Casket Works - home to Hot Bed Press, Suite Studios and Cow Lane as well as Salford’s oldest church Sacred Trinity and its sister chapel, St Philip’s Church. The Kings Arms Manchester Modernist Society
Graphic design students will set up a base at the Hub where information would be collected on the various studios venues and organizations taking part. This information could take the form of
Drawing Photography Film and Sound recordings and other form of
Documentary evidence.
Members of the public would be invited to contribute the information on Chapel Street. History Natural History Coming Events Plans for the future.
